Very ambitious, I like it!

Especially like the age-smoothed rock in the background.

i like the contrast of the sharp detailed lines and the soft shapes and flow of the rocks/scenery

the tall rock on the left hand side is the only thing i find that doesnt fit in as well

the detail is excellent though, very crisp!

Hi Unforgiven and Mason, thank you for your nice comment. I will continue working on it.
And Starks, your suggestions are always right. I will first color this painting and see how the rock works. If it is fit in after I finish.

I don't think removing the rock from the upper left would improve anything, I think it provides you an opportunity for a narrative between the foreground and background elements.

As it stands, the added detail of the rock gives me the impression of a road or path between it and the city. I think that would be in keeping with the medieval style of drawing wherein measured perspective wasn't practiced and people, things, and places were drawn out of their context in order to communicate something (map, history, character).

It also provides a nice compositional line between the upper left(rock) and the lower right(foremost building).

I agree. That rock is strange because it's flat... the base of the rock is a flat line that doesn't match the contours and shape of the rest of the rock making it look strange and 2 dimensional on a 3 dimensional painting.

i was referring more to the angle because it kinda throws off the perspective a tad...everything is looking down from the left, but the rock seems to be looking up from the bottom left, and we are seeing the upwards angle (or straight on) instead of the downwards like the rest of the image

nothing you can really do, just something to be made aware of thats all

its still an excellent drawing, and the detail as mentioned is just awesome Smile

Hmmm... were you referring to the rock on the left in the mid-ground or the background? If you were referring to the mid-ground I agree, it is going against the flow of the drawing.
